Hot Bamboo Massage Therapy
Edmonton Area

Smooth bamboo sticks have been used traditionally in Thailand to perform massages and this form of self care has been adapted and is now gaining popularity in Alberta. Liquid coconut oil is applied directly on your skin to help the polished rattan tools to glide over the body seamlessly. The heat is perceived as very pleasant and the long strokes feel soothing and relaxing. Many people who have tried it really liked it and are coming back for more.

Why is Hot Bamboo Massage Therapy Effective?

The heat of the bamboo provides several advantages: It helps to induce a state of relaxation very easily, the warmth goes deep into the muscles and helps to prepare the body for deeper work quickly.
The warmth of the tools combined with the gentle or vigorous manipulation of the muscles and fascia will increase the blood flow to the area. Increased blood flow means that the tissues are provided with more nutrients which then supports healing. The tools make it easy for the massage therapist to apply pressure.

Hot Bamboo Massage Therapy FAQ

No, I make sure that the bamboo is not too hot. I am holding it in my hands while massaging and I also periodically check in with you to see if you are comfortable with the heat and pressure.

It is possible to perform a heated bamboo massage through clothing, however it won’t be the same experience and outcome as if you would get undressed to your comfort level. The areas that I am not working on will always be covered by a sheet and blanket.
